Reflexology

Reflexology is a simple, non-invasive therapy performed by applying varying pressure to the reflexes of the feet, hands, and ears. These reflexes correspond to every organ and gland found in the body, and once stimulated, it causes responses (relaxation) in those corresponding parts. Relaxation is the first step towards restoration of internal balance. Once this is achieved within the body, the affected area may go on to its normal state of functioning.

A person’s level of health depends on their body’s ability to bounce back to its normal balance after trauma or injury (i.e. stress, disease, etc.). Reflexology can be used to trigger this response and aid the body to achieve this more quickly. Reflexology can also be used as a preventative treatment in order to maintain an overall healthy state. Every individual responds differently to this type of treatment due to their individual needs. However, once the body has been brought to a state of relaxation it will naturally restore proper function and that person will start feeling better.

A treatment will typically induce relaxation, encourage circulation, decrease stress, and increase energy levels.

More specifically reflexology has been shown to be effective for:

  • Digestive disorders

  • Hormonal imbalances

  • Sleeping disorders

  • Stress related conditions

  • Depression and anxiety

  • Fatigue

  • Cancer

  • Glandular issues (i.e. hypothyroidism)

Reflexology does not interfere or conflict with other healthcare or traditional medical treatments. In many cases it actually enhances their results and proves as an excellent co-treatment.
